Jeffrey S. Apell

A 1989 graduate of Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania and a 1992 graduate of Widener University School of Law, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Mr. Apell was admitted to the Bar in the State of New Jersey in 1992. He, his wife and three sons live in southern New Jersey.

He was a law secretary (law clerk) for the Honorable Victor Friedman, Judge of the Superior Court in Burlington County. Thereafter, he became an associate of the law firm of Apell and Detrick in Browns Mills, New Jersey.

Mr. Apell is now a partner with the law firm, along with his partners Paul C. Detrick, Esquire and his father, Erwin D. Apell, Esquire. Jeffrey primarily focuses on real estate, probate litigation, estate planning, municipal court and land use work. His firm is a general practice with a focus on family, bankruptcy, general litigation, and mortgage and tax sale foreclosures.

He was on the District IIIB (Burlington County) Ethics Committee, appointed for a four year term. The Ethics Committee, consisting of volunteer attorneys and members of the public, is responsible for screening inquiries, investigating grievances, prosecuting complaints, holding hearings and issuing reports regarding the discipline of attorneys in New Jersey. Mr. Apell was the Chair and Vice-Chair of that Committee. He is on the board of Consultors for the New Jersey State Bar Association’s Real Estate, Probate and Trust Law Section. The Board of Consultors is responsible for reviewing potential legislation and making recommendations for legislation and regulations to both the New Jersey Supreme Court and the Bar Association. He proudly joins his father, Erwin D. Apell, Esquire, on that Board. He is also a past recipient for the Robert W. Crisculo Award. This yearly award is presented by the Burlington County Bar Association Trustees, in recognition of an attorney’s dedication and service to the Burlington County Bar Association and community. He has been a Burlington County Bar Association trustee and is currently a member of various State and County Bar Association Committees. Mr. Apell has been a lecturer for the Burlington County Bar Association in the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education (NJ-ICLE) on various real estate and probate issues. He is licensed to practice in the State of New Jersey, federal District Court in New Jersey, Third Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. He has been a past volunteer speaker for the New Jersey State Bar Foundation’s Speakers’ Bureau. Mr. Apell is also a member of the Burlington County Military Affairs Committee and has been a lecturer for the Burlington County Office of Aging on issues dealing with senior citizens. He is also included on the Roster of Court-approved Mediators as a Rule 1:40 Qualified Mediator.
